During the consultation, we can discuss what you would like
help with and how acupuncture can help you, and you can ask the Acupuncturist
questions about what would be best for your health goals.
The consultation begins with why you are seeking support and what you would like the practitioner to understand. Your health history, current care and expectations may be relevant to deciding what is appropriate.
Psychotherapy and acupuncture require different assessments. Ask which service the consultation covers and what the proposed appointment involves. If you are enquiring about both, the practitioner should explain their separate purposes and consent arrangements.
You can ask about professional training, possible benefits, limitations, alternatives and costs. You can also discuss how sensitive information is handled and what would happen if additional care were needed.
The outcome may be a proposed plan, further questions or a recommendation to contact another provider. It should be clear what has been agreed and whether you wish to proceed. A consultation does not guarantee that a particular treatment will be suitable.
