Traditional Chinese Medicine as a whole system
Traditional Chinese Medicine is not a single technique but a diagnostic system with several tools: acupuncture, herbal prescribing, moxibustion, cupping and Tui Na bodywork, chosen according to the pattern the practitioner identifies. Two people with the same complaint can leave with quite different treatments.
The first consultation is longer than most people expect, because the diagnosis draws on the whole picture — sleep, digestion, temperature, energy through the day, cycle, and the pulse and tongue. What follows is a plan rather than a single intervention.
Chinese medicine is an AHPRA-registered profession in Australia, with separate registration for acupuncture and for herbal dispensing. Check the register, and expect a practitioner to work alongside your GP rather than around them.
