Telehealth at this clinic: what is worth doing remotely
Telehealth here means a video or phone consultation with one of the practitioners working from the clinic. It is genuinely useful for some things and genuinely not for others, and knowing which saves everyone time.
Works well: counselling and psychotherapy, herbal and naturopathic reviews, nutrition and dietetics, cycle and fertility charting, exercise and rehabilitation progressions, and any follow-up that is mostly conversation.
Does not work: acupuncture, massage, cupping, moxibustion and everything else that needs hands or needles — and any first assessment where the practitioner needs to examine you. Pulse and tongue diagnosis cannot be done through a screen.
A telehealth appointment is also the wrong place for anything acute or undiagnosed. That is your GP, and in an emergency, triple zero.
